Abstract

A smoking article (10) is provided comprising: a charge (12) of tobacco material; a wrapper (14) surrounding said charge (12) of tobacco material; a filter (16) comprising disposed downstream of said charge (12) of tobacco material; and a hollow tube (18) defining a lumen (20) and attaching said filter (16) to said wrapper (14). An attachment portion (22) of the wrapping material (14) is received within the lumen (20) and permanently secured to the hollow tube (18). The downstream end of said charge (12) of tobacco material is secured to said wrapper (14) by means of a heat-inactivatable adhesive (28) provided on all of the tobacco material.
