Abstract

The invention discloses an application of a GmABCA9 gene in improving soybean protein content and grain weight. The invention provides an application of GmABCA9 protein or a related biomaterial thereof in regulating protein content and / or yield of plant seeds. The related biomaterial is a nucleic acid molecule expressing the GmABCA9 protein or an expression cassette, a recombinant vector, recombinant bacteria or a transgenic cell line containing the nucleic acid molecule. Experiments prove that after the GmABCA9 gene is transferred to soybeans, the protein content and hundred-grain weight of seeds of transgenic plants over-expressed by the gene are significantly higher than those of non-transgenic control plants, which indicates that the GmABCA9 and a coding gene thereof can regulate protein content and grain weight of plant seeds. The GmABCA9 and related biomaterial thereof can be used for improving the soybean quality and increasing the soybean yield. The GmABCA9 has the potential ofbeing applied to breeding and creation of new varieties of soybeans.
