Benefits of technology

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for improving the precision of carrier frequency search and reducing complexity. The technical effects of this invention include improved carrier frequency search accuracy and simplified carrier frequency search process. The invention is not limited to a specific embodiment and can include various modifications and equivalents within the scope of the invention.

Problems solved by technology

For example, for BAND1 (2110 MHz-2170 MHz), in a conventional method for searching carrier frequencies, search is performed with a carrier frequency interval of 100 kHZ, and 600 carrier frequencies need to be searched, which takes a very long time.
Furthermore, due to channel fading, the channel condition for different carrier frequencies are different, it is very possible that the search in correct carrier frequencies is influenced by the channel fading, and its C_ratio is lower than that of other carrier frequencies, resulting in failure of the detection.

embodiment 1

[0033

[0034]An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for searching carrier frequencies. FIG. 3 is a flowchart of the method. Referring to FIG. 3, the method comprises:

[0035]step 301: determining all the carrier frequencies to be measured within a frequency band according to a predetermined frequency interval;

[0036]wherein, the predetermined frequency interval may be 100 kHZ, and frequency band may be BAND 1, that is, 2110 MHZ-2170 MHZ; however, this embodiment is not limited thereto; namely, in step301, one carrier frequency to be measured is determined in the range of 2110 MHZ-2170 MHZ at an interval of 100 kHZ, thereby determining all the carrier frequencies to be measured within the range of 2110 MHZ-2170 MHZ;

[0037]step 302: selecting a part of the carrier frequencies to be measured as sampling measurement carrier frequencies according to a predetermined band search step, and for each of the sampling measurement carrier frequencies, calculating an initial peak to a...

embodiment 2

[0080

[0081]An embodiment of the present invention further provides an apparatus for searching carrier frequencies. FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram of the composition of the apparatus. Referring to FIG. 6, the apparatus comprises:

[0082]a determining unit 61 configured to determine all the carrier frequencies to be measured within a frequency band according to a predetermined frequency interval;

[0083]a calculating unit 62 configured to select a part of the carrier frequencies to be measured as sampling measurement carrier frequencies according to a predetermined band search step, and for each of the sampling measurement carrier frequencies, calculate an initial peak to average ratio of the sampling measurement carrier frequency;

[0084]a weighting unit 63 configured to weight the initial peak to average ratio of each of the sampling measurement carrier frequencies by using initial peak to average ratios of sampling measurement carrier frequencies left and right neighboring the each of the...

embodiment 3

[0105

[0106]An embodiment of the present invention further provides an user equipment (UE). FIG. 7 shows a schematic diagram of the composition of the UE. Referring to FIG. 7, in addition to the original compositions and functions, the UE further comprises an apparatus 71 for searching carrier frequencies.

[0107]In this embodiment, the apparatus 71 for searching carrier frequencies may be carried out by the apparatus for searching carrier frequencies of Embodiment 2 of the present invention, and the contents of which are incorporated herein, which shall not be described any further.

[0108]With the UE of this embodiment, in searching carrier frequencies, band search step of carrier frequencies search is increased and the complexity is lowered. The peak to average ratio (the initial peak to average ratio) of each of the sampling measurement carrier frequencies (frequencies to be measured after the band search step is increased) is weighted, thereby improving the search precision.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for searching carrier frequencies (CFs) including determining all CFs to be measured within a frequency band according to a predetermined frequency interval; selecting part of the CFs as Sampling Measurement CFs (SMCFs) according to a predetermined band search step, and for each of the SMCFs, calculating initial peak to average ratio (PAR) of the SMCFs; weighting the initial PAR of each of the SMCFs by using initial PARs of SMCFs left and right neighboring each of the SMCFs, to obtain a determined PAR of each of the SMCFs; ordering the determined PARs of all the SMCFs, and selecting, in a descending order of the determined PARs, a predetermined number of SMCFs and frequencies to be measured left and right neighboring the selected SMCFs as a search result.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS[0001]This application is based upon and claims the benefit of priority of Chinese Patent Application No. 201210165410.2, filed May 24, 2012, the disclosure of the prior application of which is hereby incorporated in its entirety by reference.TECHNICAL FIELD[0002]The present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular to a method and apparatus for searching carrier frequencies.BACKGROUND ART[0003]In an LTE-A (long-term evolution advanced) system, the number of available carrier frequencies becomes more and more, and it becomes more and more important to design a method of low complexity and high efficiency for searching carrier frequencies to satisfy the LTE-A system.[0004]A conventional algorithm for searching carrier frequencies is carried out by primary synchronization signal (PSS) of LTE (long-term evolution) system. On the whole available band, PSS search is performed with a carrier frequency interval of 100 kHZ, so...
