The invention relates to a method, in particular an at least partially computer-implemented method, for modeling a trend function of an aging state of a device battery (12) and for determining a remaining service life on the basis of the trend function, comprising the following steps: providing a trend function for the aging state, the one or more sub-functions (TF1, TF2, TF3 and TF4) are dependent on one another and are provided with parameters; continuously or periodically determining (S2) the respective current aging state at a
specific time; if it is found (S4) that a deviation in terms of absolute value between the current aging state and the extrapolated value of the trend function for the
specific time exceeds a predefined threshold value, the current aging state is determined by using (S5) three or more than three of the latest aging states. In order to parameter another sub-function (TF1, TF2, TF3, TF4) adjoining the provided trend function at the
transition point of the oldest utilized aging state; and notifying (S6) the trend function.
