Problems solved by technology

This conventional seal is also used to provide an easier to open package as the packaging material is weakened at the point where the seal is broken to define the opening
[0002] However, the formation and / or use of conventional fragile seals is not entirely satisfactory
The reliability and successful operation of conventional seals can be limited and even negatively affected, for example by manufacturing variability
Likewise, conventional seals have relatively narrow operating parameters, thus increasing manufacturing costs and reducing manufacturing options in order to ensure an operable seal for the final package

Embodiment Construction

[0017] The present invention addresses one or more of the problems associated with fragile seals in packaging. As representatively shown throughout the drawings, the present invention provides packaging for a product 10 . Such products may be tampons (Fig. 5) or other cylindrical articles, as well as flatter articles such as stacked sanitary napkins, diapers, wipes, individually wrapped candy bars, soap, or any consumer product (all shown in Fig. 6). usually shown). One or more of the aforementioned products, such as tampons, sanitary napkins, diapers, training pants, wipes, wipes, medical devices, etc., may be arranged in the package in any manner that provides for convenient storage and use. Types and configurations suitable for one or more of the above products, as well as other aspects not specifically described herein, may be provided by means known to those skilled in the art.

Abstract

A product packaging comprising a non-rigid wrapper sheet(20) with a top side(22) and a bottom side(24) and a thickness(26) defined between the top side(22) and the bottom side(24). The non-rigid wrapper(10) sheet includes a frangible seal(30). The frangible seal includes a top recess(32) located in the top side of the non-rigid wrapper sheet and a bottom recess(36) located in the bottom side of the non-rigid wrapper sheet and being adjacent to the top recess. The top recess is at least partially offset from the bottom recess as defined by the non-intersection of two separate planes extending perpendicularly through the top side of the non-rigid wrapper sheet with one plane also passing through the lateral center of the top recess and the other plane also passing through the lateral center of the bottom recess.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] There are various ways of frangibly sealing the package or packaging material and thereby providing an opening defined in the package when said seal is broken. Some conventional approaches include simple one-sided piercing or one-sided scoring in the packaging material. Some conventional approaches generally provide a sealed closure (completely airtight to some air permeable) before the seal is broken and then define an opening in the package after the seal is broken, which is not easy to seal to define the opening. The manner in which portions of the packaging material are torn apart from the portion of the packaging material which itself forms the opening is disrupted. This conventional seal is also used to provide an easier to open package because the packaging material is weakened at the point where the seal is broken to define the opening. [0002] However, the formation and / or use of conventional frangible seals is not entirely satisf...
