Embodiment Construction

[0019] I. Overview

[0020] as attached Figure 1-5 As shown, the present invention is directed to an interdental tool, generally designated 10 . In one embodiment, the interdental tool 10 includes an elongated body 12 having a handle 14 at one end thereof and a pick portion 16 at the other end thereof. A plurality of tows 18 are molded directly into the pick section 16 .

[0021] II. Structure

[0022] In the illustrated embodiment, the body 12 is formed in a mold. For example, the body 12 is injection molded using conventional injection molding apparatus having a cavity configured to provide a tool body including a handle and a pick portion. Body 12 may be formed from any moldable material that can be injected into a mold to form body 12 , such as plastic.

[0023] The handle 14 of the body 12 may be formed into any configuration suitable for gripping by a user for manipulating the tool 10 . In the illustrated embodiment, the handle 14 is elongated and generally fl...

Abstract

The present invention relates to an interdental cleaning tool, wherein a disclosed molded interdental tool includes a plurality of filament strands molded into a portion of the tool. The interdental tool includes a body having a handle portion and a pick portion. The filament strands are molded into the pick portion, with at least a portion of the filament strands protruding or extending from the pick portion. A middle portion of the filament strands may be molded into the pick portion, such that end portions of the filament strands protrude from opposite sides of the pick portion.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an interdental cleaning tool for insertion between adjacent teeth. Background technique [0002] Interdental cleaning implements and brushes are well known and believed to help remove plaque and prevent gingival recession. Typically, the interdental tool is formed by twisting a strand of U-shaped wire around a plurality of bristles to retain the bristles therein. The ends of the bristles extend beyond the wires, thereby forming an interdental toothbrush. [0003] The process of making this type of interdental toothbrush requires achieving the correct positioning of the bristles in the wire, and often requires adhering the wire to the handle. Thus, this process is very time-consuming and expensive. Furthermore, the thread material can be harsh and uncomfortable when rubbed against the user's gums. The wires may also flex or bend during use, which may prevent the bristles from entering the spaces between the teeth whe...
