The method and the device for eliminating the residual image can decrease or eliminate the asymmetry which occurs in a positive and negative display region relative to the common electrode voltage and is caused by the deviation between the ideal value and the actual value of the common electrode voltage, thereby decreasing or eliminating the direct-current component loaded on a pixel electrode for a long time, and reducing the degree of the residual image of the thin film transistor liquid crystal display.
