The backlight control unit and the gamma correction unit choose an adaptive backlight control signal and a gamma correction curve voltage according to an average grey level value of an average grey level representing the whole image calculated by the average gray level calculating unit so as to ensure that the display device dynamically regulates backlight luminance according to image data and improve relative contrast ratio of a display image through gamma correction. The low power consumption and the high definition display of the display device are realized.
