Embodiment Construction

[0074] Referring now to the accompanying drawings, wherein the accompanying drawings are only for the purpose of illustrating some exemplary embodiments and are not intended to limit the embodiments, a windshield using an enhanced vision system (EVS, enhancedvision system) is disclosed. A method of displaying on glass a graphic image depicting the operating environment of a vehicle. The graphical images come from sensor and / or data inputs describing the operating environment and include processing of these inputs to communicate critical information to the vehicle's operator or occupants. The graphic image to be displayed on the windshield is additionally recorded to the visually relevant feature observable through the windshield so that a desired occupant can view the relevant feature and the recorded graphic image as a single identifiable input.

[0075] figure 1 An exemplary vehicle equipped with an EVS system according to the present invention is shown. Vehicle 100 includ...

Abstract

A substantially transparent windscreen head up display includes one of light emitting particles or microstructures over a predefined region of the windscreen permitting luminescent display while permitting vision through the windscreen. A method to display a graphic upon a substantially transparent windscreen head up display of a host vehicle describing a preferred driving distance for the host vehicle includes monitoring a speed of the host vehicle, determining a preferred driving distance for the host vehicle based upon the speed of the host vehicle, determining a graphic describing the preferred driving distance for display upon the substantially transparent windscreen head up display, and displaying the graphic upon the substantially transparent windscreen head up display.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is a continuation-in-part of US Application No. 12 / 417077, filed April 2, 2009, which is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to graphic imaging on windshields in motor vehicles. Background technique [0004] The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art. [0005] It is desirable to provide information to an operator of a vehicle in an efficient manner and to reduce operator fatigue. Display technologies are known in which light is projected onto a screen and the light is converted into a viewable display on the screen. Such displays for transportation use are known as head-up displays, where information is projected onto the sun visor, on a screen between the operator and the windscreen, or directly onto the windscreen. However, known systems that project li...
