Abstract

The invention discloses facsimile system and method. The facsimile system comprises a first MGW (Media Gateway), an MGC (Media Gateway Controller) and a second MGW, wherein after a sending-end facsimile apparatus finishes sending facsimile data, the first MGW receives an in-band disconnect message (DCN) from the sending-end facsimile apparatus and responds to the received DCN message to send a facsimile end event (NOTIFY); the MGC is configured with a timing device and used for receiving the NOTIFY sent by the first MGW and responds to the received NOTIFY to start the timing device; the second MGW receives the DCN from the first MGW and back sends the NOTIFY to the MGC; if the MGC receives the NOTIFY back sent by the second MGW during the timing duration of the timing device, the MGC respectively sends an out-off-band disconnect command to a receiving-end facsimile apparatus and the second MGW; and if the MGC does not receive the NOTIFY back sent by the second MGW when the timing period of the timing device runs out, the MGC respectively sends the out-off-band disconnect command to the second MGW and the receiving-end facsimile apparatus.
