In a particular aspect, the present invention presents methods and apparatus for setting or modifying the minimum CPU level of a DCVS to accommodate data movement requirements running on high priority tasks. An interface or similar module between the DCVS and its clients may be provided in order to vary the DCVS response time or DCVS sensitivity. As part of the method, receiver (Rx), transmit (Tx) or other data buffers are monitored.
