The invention discloses a preparation method of a novel surface grafting modification inorganic nano humidity controlling material, comprising the steps of: A) preparing purified nanotube halloysite; B) preparing acidized nanotube halloysite; C) preparing organic modified nanotube halloysite; and D) adding the organic modified nanotube halloysite into an ethanol aqueous solution and further adding benzoyl peroxide and a hydrophilic monomer into the ethanol aqueous solution, wherein the ethanol aqueous solution is composed of one part of ethanol and 50-300 parts of water, the ratio of the organic modified nanotube halloysite to the ethanol aqueous solution is 1:10-30, the amount of the benzoyl peroxide is 0.2-3% of the amount of the organic modified nanotube halloysite, the hydrophilic monomer is acrylic acid or acrylamide whose amount is 50-300% of the amount of the organic modified nanotube halloysite; and stirring the mixture for 2-3 hours at a temperature ranged from 50 DEG C to 80 DEG C, filtering, and drying to acquire the novel surface grafting modification inorganic nano humidity controlling material.
