The invention relates to a fitting (1) for doors or windows, comprising two collars (2, 3) which can be fixed on opposite faces of a door leaf or of a window frame and which can be tightened against support surfaces of a door leaf or of a window frame for said collars by means of two screws (5) that pass through a door leaf or a window frame. Each collar (2, 3) has a collar lower part (2a, 3a) and a covering collar (2b, 3b). The fitting is designed such that the screws (5) have a threaded section (5a) on one end and a head (5b) which is undercut by an annular groove (5c) on the other end. The base collar (3a) facing the threaded sections (5a) has two sleeves (6) which are aligned with the screws (5), and an engagement sleeve (7) is mounted in each of the sleeves, said engagement sleeve being axially slotted and thus radially expandable, axially movable against the effect of a spring (8), and having at least one inner thread pitch (7d) that corresponds to the threaded section (5a) of the screws. The collar lower part (2a) facing the head ends of the screws (5) is provided with a clamping disk (9) which is provided with clamping slots (9b) that lie diametrically opposite each other, said slots being designed with an insertion opening (9a) for the head (5b) of the screws (5) on one end and engaging into the annular groove (5c) of the screws (5) along the remaining course of said slots.
