Embodiment Construction

[0017] With reference to the accompanying drawings, and more particularly to figure 1 , shows a jacket 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Outerwear 10 is shown as a vest worn over sweatshirt A. As shown in FIG. However, outerwear 10 may also be a jacket such as a wind jacket or a rain jacket. Sweatshirt A is shown with back pocket B for purposes of illustration. The jersey A is a conventional jersey and therefore typically has three pockets B, although more or fewer pockets could also be provided. The sweatshirt A has short sleeves C, but could also be a long sleeved sweatshirt or a sweatshirt with medium length sleeves, or even a sleeveless top. exist figure 1 The identification bib D is also shown in and is commonly used in cycling competitions to allow race commissioners to identify cyclists.

[0018] Outerwear 10 has a body portion 12 . Body portion 12 is made from one or more panels and is typically provided with a zip fastener. Body portion 1...

Abstract

A cycling outer shell worn over a cycling jersey comprises a torso portion made of panels. Front and back surfaces of the torso portion cover the front and back of the wearer, respectively. A cutout in the lower portion of the back surface is in alignment with the jersey pockets, and has a peripheral edge with opposite lateral edge portions, and bottom and top edge portions. The width between the lateral edge portions of the cutout and the height between the bottom and top edge portions are generally equal to those of the jersey pockets. A see-through panel located in the lower portion of the back surface of the torso portion forms a window located opposite the jersey pockets. A slit defined in the lower portion of the back surface and located above the jersey pockets opens to the interior of the outer shell, providing access to the jersey pockets. The slit has a width generally equal to that of the jersey pockets.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to cycling equipment (ie clothing) and more particularly to outerwear such as vests, jackets and rain jackets worn during cycling activities. Background technique [0002] In addition to the health benefits, cycling is a popular exercise because cyclists typically cover longer distances. In view of the often long distances ridden and the need for the cyclist to carry food, equipment, tools, and personal items, cycling jerseys having a back pocket in the lower portion of the jersey are often worn. The rear pockets are located above the wearer's buttocks, in the waist region, and generally opposite the kidney region. [0003] Such pockets are very convenient for cyclists who do not wish to carry large bags on their bicycle without increasing the bike's coefficient of drag, or who desire to have food, gear, etc. within arm's reach. [0004] Based on the longer duration of cycling activity, the cyclist may be exposed to chan...
