[0055] Similar to the first embodiment, the dust cover 100' also includes a plurality of securing structures 114', 116' on the rear face 110b' of the cover portion 110'. The securing structures 114', 116' are used to hold the dust cover 100' in the closed position. Many configurations and variations are possible for the securing structures 114', 116'. In the example embodiment shown, the securing structure 114 ′ is configured to frictionally engage the inner side walls 206 a , 206 b of the receptacle recess 206 . Additionally, the securing structure 116' is configured to accomplish a snap fit connection with the plug latch tab connection 206f in a manner similar to how the plug 300 latch tab 302 engages the receptacle 200. In the exemplary embodiment shown, a securing structure 116' is formed on the handle portion 112'. The configuration of the fixed structures 114', 116' relative to the receptacle 200 is in Figure 26 It is easiest to see in the cutaway view provided. Tho...

Abstract

A dust cover (100) for covering a socket recess (206) in a telecommunications socket (200) is disclosed. In one embodiment, the dust cover (100) includes a cover portion (110) attached to a hinged mount (150). The cover portion (110) is rotatable from a closed position in which the cover portion (110) covers the receptacle recess (206) to an open position in which the receptacle recess (206) is exposed. Cover portion (110) may include securing structures (114, 116) configured to engage receptacle recess (206) to retain cover portion (110) in a closed position. The front (110a) of the cover portion (110) may also include a handle (112). The dust cover (100) may further include an adhesive portion (156) on the rear (150b) of the hinge base (150), the adhesive portion configured to engage the front (204) of the telecommunications outlet (200), to secure the dust cover (100) to the telecommunications outlet (200).

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application was filed as a PCT International Patent Application on March 20, 2013 and claims U.S. Patent Application No. 61 / 616,709, filed March 28, 2012, and U.S. Patent Application No. 13 / 828,934, filed March 14, 2013 Priority to US Patent Application Nos. 61 / 616,709 and 13 / 828,934 are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to a dust cover for protecting unused telecommunications connectors. Background technique [0004] Electrical connectors, such as RJ-type connectors, help to provide a wall receptacle to which electrical data cables can be terminated and into which a mating electrical plug can be plugged. Problems with such electrical connectors arise when dust, dirt, or other contaminants come into contact with the conductive elements within the connector. Such contamination can cause corrosion, undesired electrical conductance, or component sticking that impe...
