The invention provides Rhododendron nivale Hook. f. volatile oil which is prepared through the following steps: adding 15-20-fold water to dry Rhododendron nivale Hook. f., soaking for 8-14h, performing distillation extraction for 10-14h until the volume of volatile oil is not increased any more, standing still, and removing supernatant. The invention further provides application of the Rhododendron nivale Hook. f. volatile oil in preparation of a medicine for treating animal acariasis. The maximum yield of the Rhododendron nivale Hook. f. volatile oil is 2.45%; and 76 kinds of compounds are obtained by an improved GC-MS chromatographic method. The Rhododendron nivale Hook. f. volatile oil provided by the invention has a favorable therapeutic effect on animal acariasis, is of medicine concentration independence, and can be used for treating animal acariasis.
