Abstract

The invention discloses an application of emetine in preparing medicine for treating or preventing herpes virus infection. Safe and toxic-concentration-free emetine is selected and used for an anti-herpes virus experiment, the result shows that emetine has remarkable anti-herpes virus activity and is relevant to dose dependence, and the anti-herpes virus effect of emetine is displayed by restraining virus reproduction. It is shown through detection of herpes viruses of different sub-types that emetine has broad-spectrum anti-herpes virus activity, is high in selection index, can be developed into the medicine for treating herpes virus infection diseases, and has wide application prospects.
