Embodiment Construction

[0017] Exemplary embodiments will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0018] reference figure 1 , A J-shaped clamping nut 1 made of stamped spring steel is shown and can also be called a tab nut. The J-shaped clamping nut 1 is mounted on the workpiece to be mounted on the overhead support structure. The workpiece may be a vehicle component, such as the housing of an evaporator leak check module (ELCM), which is mounted to the vehicle chassis. The J-shaped clamping nut 1 includes a fastener plate 10, a clamping plate 12, and a side plate 14, which are formed in a J-shape.

[0019] The fastener plate 10 has an opening 16 formed in a substantially rectangular shape. The four pins 18 extend inwardly toward each other from different portions (eg, corners) of the opening 16 to define a single threaded hole 20. Each of the four prongs 18 is bent to define a tapered recess 22 such that the single threaded hole 20 and the fastener plate 10 are in a ...

Abstract

A speed nut (1) for fastening a work piece to a stud (36) includes a fastener plate (10) defining an opening (16) on a surface. The speed nut (1) further includes a prong (18) extending inwardly from an edge of the opening (16), the prong (18) includes a root portion (42) connecting with the fastener plate (10) and a terminal end (44) defining a single-threaded hole (20) within the opening (16) and configured to ratchet over threads of the stud (36). The root portion (42) and the terminal portion (44) are arranged offset from each other such that the prong (18) plastically deforms in response to the work piece being removed from the stud (36).

Description

Technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a tab nut for fastening a component to a support wall. Background technique [0002] This section provides background information related to the present disclosure, which is not necessarily prior art. [0003] Insert nut is a kind of fastener made of stamped spring steel. The blade nut has two or more flexible pins extending toward each other, and defines a fastening hole configured to engage with a bolt. In the initial state, the fastening hole is designed to be slightly smaller than the diameter of the bolt in the initial state. Once the bolt is inserted into the fastening hole, the flexible pin is plastically deformed, so that the fastening hole is enlarged according to the diameter of the bolt. The end of the flexible pin is ratcheted on the thread of the bolt, and force is applied to the bolt to lock the insert nut and prevent the insert nut from loosening. [0004] An example of such an implementation is found in US P...
