Embodiment Construction

[0054] figure 1 A tool for a glass bending process according to the prior art is shown. The tool is an upper mold which is suitable for holding the two glass sheets I, II superimposed on one another at the frame-shaped, convex contact surface 2 by means of suction against the influence of gravity. The contact surface 2 is arranged on a so-called carrier 13 . To generate the suction effect the tool comprises a suction tube 5 through which air is sucked away. The tool additionally has a cover 3 , the end of which is equipped with a surrounding deflector 4 . The baffle 4 surrounds the contact surface 2 circumferentially. The air flow generated by the suction pipe via the curved bracket 13 and the cover 3 with the deflector 4 is guided in such a way that it sweeps over the edge of the glass pane. As a result, the glass pane pair I, II is securely held on the contact surface 2 .

[0055] Sheets I, II are pre-bent, for example by gravity bending in a lower bending die. The too...

Abstract

The invention relates to a tool (1) for holding at least one glass pane (1, 11) by means of a suction effect in a bending process, comprising a frame-like, convex contact surface (2) and a cover (3), which has a peripheral air-guiding plate (4) that surrounds the contact surface (2) at least in some regions, wherein the tool (1) is suitable for producing a first, reduced pressure (p1) in a first pressure region (B1) between the air-guiding plate (4) and the contact surface (2); producing a second pressure (p2) in a second pressure region (B2), which is arranged in a central region inside the contact surface (2), wherein the second pressure (p2) is greater than the first pressure (p1).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a tool for a glass bending process, a method for bending glass sheets and the use of the tool. Background technique [0002] Curved composite glass is common in the automotive sector, especially as windshields. It is known to be advantageous to bend the individual panes of composite glass jointly and simultaneously. Pairs of curved glass sheets are compatible with each other in terms of their curvature and are therefore particularly suitable for laminating one another to form a composite glass. A method for bending glass sheets in pairs is known, for example, from DE 10105200 A1. [0003] Document EP1836136B1 discloses a further bending method as well as a tool of this type, referred to in this document as an upper mold ("forme supérieure"). A convex tool is used as an upper mold in the bending method and is adapted to hold the glass sheet to be bent against the influence of gravity. The holding tool comprises a frame-shape...
