Abstract

The objective of the invention is to provide a method and a system for control a mobile robot to perform mapping. Compared to the prior art, the method comprises the steps of: determining mapping state information of a current map block where a mobile robot is located; when the mapping state information comprises a mapping state, automatically switching on a mapping main switch to control the mobile robot to start establishing of a grid map for the current map block, and when a switch-off condition of the mapping main switch is satisfied, switching off the mapping main switch to control the mobile robot to switch off establishing of the grid map for the current map block. The mapping switch is automatically controlled in this mode to achieve mapping to allow the mapping process of the mobile robot to be more intelligent, the mapping process does not need excessive human intervention, and therefore the robot can be better suitable for change of environments in the process of completingtasks, the mapping effect is better, efficient and accurate, and system resources for mapping are saved.
