Abstract

A lobed joint that joins composite plates via internal vanes. Systems and methods for lobed panel attachment are provided. One embodiment is a method. The method includes cutting a first slot into a first composite panel including a core between two face sheets. The first slot penetrates the core of the first composite panel. The method also includes cutting a second groove into a second composite panel including a core between the two face sheets. The second slot penetrates the face sheets of the second composite panel and the core of the second composite panel. The method also includes inserting the vane into the first slot, and inserting the vane into the second slot.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of composite materials, and in particular, involving engagement of a composite plate. Background technique [0002] Various mechanical components are produced using a composite material (eg, carbon fiber, glass fiber, or the like). When creating a particularly complex part, it is possible to assemble components from multiple composite panels. However, the composite plate linkage is still a complex process with a desired structural strength. This is especially true for composite panels using the core. In an aerospace environment, a smaller amount of adhesive using a small amount of binder can also be taken in the formation of a joint. The weight of the joint is advantageously reduced using less adhesive forming joints, which improves the fuel efficiency of the corresponding aircraft. [0003] Accordingly, it is technored by those skilled in the art to enhance techniques to engage composite plates. Inventive conten...
