The pressure plate instrument is composed of a pressure chamber system, a pressure control system, a vertical pneumatic loading system, a time domain reflection measuring system and a plurality of water storage systems; one air outlet of the pressure controlsystem is connected with an air inlet of the pressure chamber system, and another air outlet is connected with the air inlet of the vertical pneumatic loading system to control the air pressure of thepressure chamber system and the vertical pneumatic loading system; a vertical loading end of the vertical pneumatic loading system vertically acts on the pressure chamber system to control the waterabsorption or dehydration of a soil sample; a detection end of the time domain reflection measuring system is connected with the pressure chamber system to measure the moisture content of the soil sample; and the water storage system is connected with a water outlet end of the pressure chamber system to store moisture removed from the soil sample.
