Abstract

This disclosure describes methods and techniques for limiting the size of LTE positioning protocol LPP messages in a positioning session between a user equipment and a positioning server. In one embodiment, the first device sends a first LPP message to the second device, the first LPP message indicating that the first device is capable of receiving segmented LPP messages. Subsequently, the first device receives a plurality of LPP message fragments from the second device, the plurality of LPP message fragments including one or more non-final LPP message fragments and a final LPP message fragment, wherein each LPP message fragment includes "Non-final" or "final" instructions. The first device stores the non-final LPP message fragments and processes the LPP message fragments after receiving the final LPP message fragments.
