Embodiment Construction

[0048] figure 1 An example of a system 10 for functional magnetic resonance image data acquisition is shown. System 10 includes an input unit 20 , a magnetic resonance imaging “MRI” device 30 , an electroencephalography “EEG” data acquisition device 40 and a processing unit 50 . The input unit is configured to provide task-based information to the patient. Task-based information extends over time periods. The MRI device is configured to acquire functional magnetic resonance imaging "fMRI" data related to the patient's brain activity. fMRI data are stretched over time. The EEG device is configured to acquire EEG data related to the electrical activity of the patient's brain. EEG data stretched over time periods. The processing unit is configured to determine at least a first subset of time periods within the time period using the task-based information extending over the time period and the EEG data extending over the time period. The processing unit is further configured...

Abstract

The invention relates to a system (10) for functional magnetic resonance image data acquisition. The system comprises an input unit (20), a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device (30), an electroencephalogram (EEG) data acquisition device (40) and a processing unit (50). The input unit is configured to provide task-based information to a patient, where the task-based information extends over a time period. The MRI device is configured to acquire functional magnetic resonance imaging ("fMRI") data relating to brain activity of the patient, where the fMRI data extends over the time period. The EEG device is configured to acquire EEG data relating to electrical activity of the brain of the patient, where the EEG data extends over the time period. The processing unit is configured to determine at least one first subset of time periods within the time period using the task-based information extending within the time period and the EEG data extending within the time period. The processing unit is configured to determine an action associated with acquisition of fMRI data within the at least one first subset of time periods.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a system for data collection of functional magnetic resonance images and a method for data collection of functional magnetic resonance images. Background technique [0002] Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) measures brain activity by detecting blood flow, and in which blood flow in the brain and spine is linked to brain activity. Blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) contrast signals are frequently used in which the human or other animal brain or Nerve activity in the spinal cord. The advantage of fMRI is that patients do not have to undergo surgery or be exposed to radiation doses. However, this technique does suffer from the effects of noise. [0003] SG Horovitz et al., Hum Brain Mapp 29:671-682 2008 describe that recent blood oxygen level-dependent functional MRI (BOLD fMRI) studies of the human brain have shown that in the absence of external stimuli, activity is timed in different patterns The associated patt...
