[0015] Referring now to Figure 1, there is shown a collar 2 for joining two elongate lengths of material. The collar 2 is a one-piece construction made of a hard plastic material. The collar 2 may suitably be made of metal such as aluminium, which has the added advantage of being heat resistant and relatively light in weight.
[0016] The collar 2 has two mutually opposing surfaces 4, 6, each supporting one of the elongated lengths of material in use (see Figures 2 and 3). The first surface 4 is convex around a first axis A-A, while the second surface 6 is convex around a second axis B-B, which is perpendicular to the first axis. Although the collar 2 is shown in Figure 1 as a unitary structure, it is also possible that the two surfaces 4, 6 are separate parts joined together.
