Abstract

The present invention discloses a console for an enterprise suite. This enterprise suite addresses the growing complexity of keeping critical systems updated, compliant and free from security breaches. It uses FixletR technology to identify vulnerable computers on the network, and then allows authorized personnel to fix problems across any subset of the network with a simple mouse click. The enterprise suite helps to keep all networked computers updated and properly patched from a central console which, along with auxiliary structural enhancements, is the subject of this specification. The invention allows security patches to be rolled out in minutes rather than months, thus allowing administrators to stay ahead of potential hacking attacks. The present invention also enables tracking of each computer's progress as updates are applied, thereby enabling simple measurement of compliance levels across the enterprise.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to network management technology. More specifically, the present invention relates to an enterprise console for managing a large-scale network of computing devices. Background technique [0002] Information technology (IT) administrators in any enterprise face the daunting task of managing software and hardware on dozens, hundreds, or thousands of machines in their region. With so many incompatibilities, patches, and policy advisories released every day, the task is much more than just fetching and installing. Even just spotting potentially problematic conditions in the hardware and software products your business uses takes more than a full-time job. Addressing these issues in accordance with user complaints further adds additional onerous requirements. Thus, IT managers must be able to anticipate impending situations in a particular enterprise and plan to deal with them before they cause major problems. Therefore, there is a...
