Embodiment Construction

[0033] Figure 1 to Figure 3 A device 1 according to the invention is shown. The instrument 1 is essentially a sheath having a cylindrical wall 3 with an upper end 5 and a lower end 7 . figure 1 shows the side view of the device before use and Fig. 2 shows the same device with its upper end 5 in side view under pressure in use, which will be referred to Figure 4A -4E is further described below.

[0034] The cylindrical wall comprises a tube 9 of absorbent blotter. The upper end 5 has circumferential slots 11 , 13 extending parallel to the cylinder axis. like figure 1 As shown, before use, these seams are basically closed to the structure before use ( figure 1 ), but when in use it is subjected to pressure from the upper part, on the upper surface 5, represented by arrows 17, 19, etc., it will cause the segments 21, 23 between the slots to splay outward so that the edge 25 at the upper end 5 is pushed outwards ( FIG. 2 ) so as to effectively form a wider diameter than th...

Abstract

The invention provides a dental device comprising a sheath for fitting over a tooth, the sheath carrying a haemostatic agent in at least one region thereof, wherein the sheath comprises a generally cylindrical body having at least a first end and a second end, at least one of said first and second ends presenting a circumferential margin carrying at least part of the haemostatic agent, and wherein the at least one end carrying at least part of the haemostatic agent is open to a cavity and the other end is closed. A method of inhibiting or preventing gingival bleeding and a method of retracting gingivae using such a device are also provided.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a dental instrument and a method of use thereof, the purpose of which is to prevent gum bleeding and / or to retract gums during various dental operations. Background technique [0002] During the preparation of crowns, bridges and veneers, teeth have to be reshaped and impressions are taken of prepared teeth; various impression materials are used. It is always necessary to control the small amount of bleeding that occurs around the gums, near prepared teeth. The gingiva must also be retracted to allow the impression material to take an accurate impression on the margins of the prepared tooth. [0003] The most common method of controlling bleeding and compressing gingival tissue is the use of retraction cords. These threads are impregnated with epinephrine, racemic epinephrine hydroxide and norepinephrine (synthetic epinephrine) and astringents such as ferric chloride and aluminum chloride. [0004] The gum line has t...
