This invention relates to polymorphs of metoprolol and its salts. Crystal forms and combinations thereof of the free base of metoprolol selected from polymorphs A, B, C, D, E, F, and G are disclosed, as well as crystalline polymorphs of salts of metoprolol. Pharmaceutical compositions containing one or more of these polymorphs and methods for preparing such polymorphs are also disclosed. Metoprolol can be used to treat a variety of diseases associated with low intracellular BH4 levels, such as phenylketonuria.
