A carpet tile includes a pile fabric layer, a primary backing, a latex precoat applied to the primary backing, a nonwoven mat positioned directly adjacent to the latex precoat, and a thermoplastic secondary backing applied to the nonwoven mat so that the thermoplastic secondary backing encapsulates a bottom surface of the nonwoven mat and saturates through the nonwoven mat to couple the nonwoven mat with the primary backing. The nonwoven mat includes a plurality of entangled fibers and a binder that bonds or adheres the entangled fibers together. At least some of the fibers of the nonwoven mat directly contact either the latex precoat or some of the yarns of the pile fabric layer.
A carrier material comprising at least a first thermoplasticfiber layer (A1) and a second thermoplasticfiber layer (A2), characterized in that at least a part of the first thermoplasticfiber layer and / or the second thermoplastic fiber layer at at least one boundary of the carrier material is removed, to provide a first part of a form-fit connection. The carrier material can be used in bituminous roofing membranes, roofing underlayment sheets, carriers for filter media, primary backings for tufted carpets and (cushion) vinyl floor coverings.
