Abstract

A mattress (2) comprising: an elastic body having at least one upper surface portion for supporting a person (eg a toddler or an infant); and a plurality of surface channels (30) provided on the or each upper surface part and extend parallel to it. The upper surface portions (eg three, including separate surface portions for supporting the head and body) are inclined (or preferably, suitably anatomically inclined) relative to the horizontal plane. The surface channel (30) has a directional component along the rising slope direction. Thus, the warm air heated by the contact with the human body passes along the surface channels (30) and passes to the outside atmosphere in order to rise. Heat is thus dissipated from the body, helping to prevent overheating.
