Problems solved by technology

In particular, however, there is also the fact that the transformation processes that take place are respectively the formation of gas phases, so that relatively large volumes of gas are produced, which have to be discharged
This can lead to problems in confined spaces, eg it is more difficult to transport the corresponding transport containers in the aircraft

Embodiment Construction

[0030] 【0011】according to figure 1 with figure 2 The transport container 1 is cylindrical. The transport container 1 comprises a coaxially arranged likewise cylindrical inner container 2 and two likewise cylindrical additional containers 3 , 4 which are arranged at the ends of the inner container 2 in a thermally insulating chamber 5 . above and below. The insulating chamber 5 is formed by a thick-walled cup-shaped insulation 6 with an inwardly directed stepped upper edge 7 receiving a correspondingly stepped thick-walled closure 8 in the form of a lid for closing the insulating chamber 5 . The insulator 6 is tightly surrounded by a rigid protective tube 9, at both ends of which are respectively provided external threads, which are tightly screwed with the engaging-over threaded edges 10 of the screw caps 11 and 12, respectively.

[0031] [0012] The insulation 6 and the insulation closure 8 are made of a high-grade insulation material with a very low thermal conductivity ...

Abstract

Disclosed is a transport container for shipping frozen material, particularly biological tissue samples. Said transport container comprises a jacket-shaped insulation (superinsulation) and a removableinner container (44) which is provided with at least one coolant chamber (47) with a coolant filling (47'), and at least one chilling chamber (46) that is located inside the coolant chamber (47). Thecoolant, e.g. mercury having a melting temperature of about -39 DEG C, is permanently and hermetically enclosed in the coolant chamber (47) and is solidified in a freezing process using liquid nitrogen, for example, before being shipped. The chilling chamber (46), and thus the sample, is maintained at said temperature level during shipping while the coolant or mercury melts slowly.

Description

technical field [0001] [0001] The present invention relates to a transport container for keeping frozen material, in particular frozen biological tissue samples or cell cultures, in cold storage, having an insulation surrounding an insulated chamber and having a removably arranged and an inner container containing said frozen material in a chamber, also having a refrigerant refrigerated by a phase change. Background technique [0002] [0002] A long-known method for keeping material cold is to place the material in an insulated container and in this way protect it from exposure to heat. However, especially in the case of transport containers, the wall thickness of the insulation is limited and thus also the insulating effect. Therefore, especially in the case of relatively long storage and transport times, in order to avoid a dangerous rise in temperature or even thawing of frozen material, it must be ensured that the incoming heat is compensated or counteracted by generatin...
