[0013] FIG. 1 shows register pins 1 , 2 which are arranged on a printing form cylinder along a line which is parallel to the axis of rotation of the printing form cylinder. The registration pin 1 has a circular cross section. The registration pin 2 has a rectangular cross-section and has an abutment surface 3 parallel to the axis of rotation of the printing plate cylinder. In preparation for a printing process, a printing forme 4 is fixed on the forme cylinder. The printing plate 4 is advanced in the direction 7 of the register pins 1 , 2 by friction rollers 5 , 6 . The printing plate 4 has a U-shaped cutout 9 and a rectangular cutout 10 on the front printing plate edge 8 . The cutouts 9 , 10 have a distance a like the register pins 1 , 2 . Friction rollers 5 , 6 rest against the surface of printing plate 4 and can be driven by motors 11 , 12 . The motors 11 , 12 are connected to a control device 13 .
