Abstract

The invention is a method for preparing an artificial femur specimen by using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), which is characterized in that the method carries out continuous spiral CT scan on normal femur by taking along the cross section of the femur, and obtained multilayer images are manufactured into a three-dimensional reconstruction model of the femur; and then a femur model is manufactured, unbleached wax is utilized to manufacture a pulp cavity, and PMMA is poured into the model to be cured; finally, the unbleached wax is melted to obtain the hollow femur specimen. In the invention, PMMA is utilized to manufacture the femur model, the cost is low, the operation is simple, the performance is good, and the model can be easily stored, thus avoiding the worries about inadequate bone source and high cost. In addition, experiments which can not be carried out on the body of a patient can be carried out in vitro, such as the selection of different internal fixtures of identical typefracture and the analysis on stress applied on different type fractures of the same internal fixture, thus the method finds out solutions and provides helps for the selection of internal fixation of clinical femur fracture.
