Embodiment Construction

[0056] In short, existing schemes are deficient since they fail to provide frequency diversity and interference randomization for each scenario of interest across multiple different cells of an OFDM system. An alternative is to interleave mini-CCEs individually for each OFDM symbol. In such cases, if three OFDM symbols are used to transmit PHICH, PCFICH and PDCCH, three different symbol group permutations can be used to obtain interference randomization and measurements of frequency diversity. Example interleaving and cyclic shifting patterns that result in relatively good frequency diversity and interference randomization when used on a per OFDM symbol basis are described herein below, particularly with respect to the first and second embodiments.

[0057] The following example provides an explanation as to why the interleaving and cyclic shifting types should be chosen with some degree of care. This example concerns a control channel for an LTE system with four transmit ant...

Abstract

Control channel information is formulated for transmission in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. In an example embodiment, a method entails formulating control channel information for a transmitting device operating in an OFDM system, wherein the control channel spans n OFDM symbols, n being an integer. This method includes the acts of assigning, creating and mapping. Control channel data is allocated to at least one set of resource element groups. At least one order for said set of resource element groups is created according to one or more permutation mechanisms involving at least one interleaved sequence having low cross-correlation properties. Said set of resource element groups is mapped to resource elements of n OFDM symbols of the control channel in response to the order created using the permutation mechanism. Permutation schemes may include interleaved sequences and / or cyclic shifts.
