Problems solved by technology

[0006] Furthermore, the use of the arm is limited to containers of a certain height, since the container is too small and the arm must be placed around the inside of the container in order to place the cooling means inside the beverage; this will affect the ability of a person to be able to drink from the container
Conversely, for taller containers, the arms are often too short to allow the cooling tool to reach the bottom of the container to cool the drink

Embodiment Construction

[0028] refer to Figure 1 to Figure 4 , a device 10 for holding a beverage cooling implement 11 within a container 12 is provided. The device 10 may basically be made of plastic material and comprises an arm 13 extending into the container 12 and connected to beverage cooling means 11 for cooling the beverage (not shown) in the container 12 . Arm 13 can be bent (as image 3 shown) so as to follow the inner contour of, for example, a wine glass, or may be substantially straight so as to extend directly towards the base of the container 12.

[0029] The outermost section of the arm 13 folds back on itself to form a hook-shaped clip 14 which is attached to the rim 15 of the container 12 . In order to securely grip the rim 15 of the container 12 , teeth or elastomeric grips (not shown) are preferably provided on the back of the hook grip 14 .

[0030] The end of arm 13 extending into container 12 is secured to yoke 16 by biasing means 17; this biasing means may comprise a resil...

Abstract

A device for retaining beverage cooling means within a vessel is disclosed. The device comprises a vessel engaging portion and means for engaging the beverage cooling means. The vessel engaging portion comprises biasing means which biases the means for engaging the beverage cooling means to the base of the vessel.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for retaining beverage cooling means within a container. Background technique [0002] It is well known to cool beverages by adding one or more ice cubes to the beverage. However, this solution has the disadvantage that the water from which the ice is made contains microorganisms which would be harmful if ingested with the beverage when the ice melts. [0003] Another disadvantage of ice cubes is that when the ice melts, the water dilutes the drink and reduces the overall strength and taste of the drink. [0004] US Patent No. 4,325,230 provides an attempt to overcome the above-mentioned problems with a device comprising a sealed cubic enclosure into which ice cubes can be placed. In use, one or more of these devices are frozen and then added to a beverage. The ice is contained inside the casing so that when it melts it does not contaminate or dilute the drink. After use, the device can be rinsed and reused...
