The invention discloses a data descriptor-based medium access control (MAC) software and hardware interaction method and a hardware realization device for data descriptor-based MAC software and hardware interaction. The method comprises the following steps of: forming a transmission or reception data descriptor by frame data information which is transmitted or to be received and the control information of the frame data information according to a given format, and transmitting the transmission or reception data descriptor to a hardware part to finish a control operation on frame data transmission or reception by using a software part; enabling a system control / state register stack and a transmission / reception state register stack in the designing of a hardware architecture to realize routine transmission and reception control between software and hardware and the control and state feedback of the data transmission respectively; and resolving the descriptor and controlling the data transmission and reception operations of a protocol control unit by using a transmission / reception descriptor buffer controller.
