Embodiment Construction

[0043] As mentioned above, implementing uplink combined data processing is challenging due to the latency and bandwidth requirements required for high-speed data transfer between different processing units in a cellular wireless communication system.

[0044] Demodulating uplink signals in, for example, LTE systems is a very complex process, where a large amount of signal processing needs to be performed for each subframe in only 2.35ms. If CoMP is added to the demodulation process, the processing must still be captured within the 2.35ms time span to meet the latency requirement. The challenging part is transferring data from one processing unit to another. Bandwidth requirements between processing units need to be on the order of 10Gbps or more in order not to violate the latency budget.

[0045] A straightforward solution would be to provide a high-speed interface to each ASIC with enough capacity not to exceed the latency budget. However, providing such high bit-rate interf...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method in a base station for scheduling processing of received uplink data in a cellular wireless communication system; said communication system being adapted for combining uplink data received in two or more cells for mobile users, and comprising a first cell being a serving cell for one or more mobile users and at least one second cell being a cooperating cell associated with said first cell for combining uplink data. The method in the base station comprises the steps of: receiving uplink data associated with mobile users in said communication system; classifying mobile users into different types based on how radio resources are shared by said mobile users, said radio resources being allocated for said first cell and said at least one second cell, respectively; and processing uplink data associated with mobile users in an order based on said classification of mobile users. Furthermore, the invention also relates a method in a base station, computer program, a computer program product, and a base station thereof.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method of arranging the processing of data in a cellular radio communication system, more particularly to a method according to the preamble of claim 1 . Furthermore, the invention also relates to a computer program, a computer program product, a method in a base station and a base station therein. Background technique [0002] Coordinated Multipoint Transmission (CoMP) is a technique used to enhance performance for mobile users such as User Equipment (UE) by combining Uplink signals processed in the baseband card. The performance gain is that the uplink signal from the mobile user is received by several different cells and then combined by the serving cell to which the mobile user belongs. Merging techniques may be to jointly detect complex in-phase and quadrature (IQ) data (frequency-domain samples) or to combine soft bits (log-likelihood ratio (LLR) data). CoMP technology has been proposed for, for example, Long Term Ev...
