The conduit clamp 1 is arranged to receive the conduit 20 into the vertical through hole / port 7 and into the open channel 8 which communicates with the through hole 7 . The channel 8 comprises an inclined part and a (lower) horizontal part. The through hole 7 and channel 8 are substantially the outer diameter of the catheter and form a tight fitting path for the catheter. When the cap 3 is closed to form a pinch, the lower portion 9 of the cap 3 pushes the conduit into the passage 8 and deforms the conduit within the passage without appreciably reducing the cross-sectional area through which fluid can flow through the conduit. This controlled deformation of the catheter advantageously allows the catheter to be securely clamped.
