The method comprises the steps of establishing an aerodynamic characteristic simulation model of typical power transmission and transformation insulators; carrying out computer simulation on air vortex and air pressure on the surface layers of the typical power transmission and transformation insulators, the contamination property and the deposition property of contamination particles; giving the contamination property, including the contamination quantity, contamination distribution and the saturation contamination degree, of the typical power transmission and transformation insulators; establishing a computer simulation electric arc dynamic model of contamination insulator arc-over; carrying out computer simulation on flashover performance of the typical insulators under different contamination conditions; selecting optimal selection and configuration parameters of the power transmission and transformation insulators or giving advice on the periodicity of an electric transmission line and seeking ameliorative measures for preventing pollution flashover according to results of contamination simulation and flashover simulation.
