Abstract

A method for manufacturing a modular electrical connector having different contact member configurations includes providing a generic header assembly having a plurality of receptacle spaces defined therein. A number of different contact subassemblies are provided with varying contact assembly configurations, each subassembly having common dimensions configured for receipt within the receptacle space. A pattern of contact subassemblies is defined for a particular desired connector configuration from any combination of contact subassemblies, and the contact subassemblies are mounted and bonded into the receptacle space of the header assembly according to the pattern. A kit may be provided with modular components for making the connector.
