The method comprises the steps of obtaining a motion signal and an accelerator signal of the automobile in real time when speed of the automobile is greater than a first threshold value; analyzing the motion direction of the automobile according to the motion signal, and determining operating status of the automobile, the operating status including forward running and reverse; if the automobile is currently forwardly running, determining whether an event that an accelerator pedal is stepped and released occurs, and if the event occurs, determining that the accelerator pedal is mistakenly stepped when an accelerator signal is greater than a second threshold value and variable quantity of the accelerator signal in a preset time period is greater than a third threshold value; if the automobile is currently reverse, determining that the accelerator pedal is mistakenly stepped when the accelerator signal is greater than the second threshold value and the variable quantity of the accelerator signal in the preset time period is greater than the third threshold value; and after determining that the accelerator pedal is mistakenly stepped, outputting a preset signal to an automobile engine controller to make the automobile to be safely running at a low speed.
