Embodiment Construction

[0027] The aim of the present invention is to produce an easy-to-use, cost-effective and reproducible device for generating solutions of appropriate concentration. Embodiments of the present invention are designed to dispense a solution formed of a solid product and an incident fluid such as water. The solid product may comprise many different products including but not limited to disinfectants, detergents or floor care products as many applications of the present invention may involve generating solutions for cleaning processes. In many cases, for cost, performance or even regulatory reasons, it is desirable to obtain and maintain a certain concentration of solution.

[0028] Figure 1A A perspective view of one embodiment of the invention is shown. This embodiment of a solid product dispenser 100 includes an inlet section 102 (which receives an incident fluid), a reaction section 104 (where the fluid encounters a solid product), and an outlet section 106 (from which a solut...

Abstract

Method and apparatus for dispensing a solution of a solid product in a fluid. A self-contained device comprising an inlet portion through which a fluid enters, a reaction portion in which the fluid contacts and dissolves the product to form a solution, and an outlet portion through which the solution exits the device. The fluid may encounter the product from a single direction or from multiple directions and from the top or bottom. The apparatus may include fluid transfer means for passing fluid to a desired portion of the solid product. The device may be configured to accommodate a solid product of a specific shape, and may include a cover or gate to prevent fluid from undesirably contacting the product.

Description

Background technique [0001] Solutions formed by dissolving solid products in fluids have long been known and used in many applications. Accordingly, solution forming devices have been developed in order to generate desired solutions without manually generating these solutions. As opposed to being generated manually, a fluid is provided to the device, a solution is formed therein, and then flows out of the device. Such devices can be used to generate cleaning and sanitizing solutions or other desired solutions. [0002] Many of these solution-forming devices have been in-line systems in which the device is fixedly connected to a fluid supply. In such a device, fluid will flow through the device whether the solution is desired or not. To prevent the formation of unwanted solutions, the product must be removed from the unit to eliminate the chance of mixing, or the fluid needs to be rerouted. Constantly removing and replacing solid product into the device can be a tedious and...
