Abstract

The invention discloser a device and a method for generating tunable terahertz radiation by use of hollow laser plasma. The objectives of the invention are that the hollow plasma is formed through ionization of hollow laser and an inert gas tunnel; the hollow plasma has enormous capability to restrain and convert electromagnetic energy; the electromagnetic energy restrained and stored in the hollow plasma is converted into terahertz waves; and the radius and density of the hollow plasma is adjusted by adjusting the radius of the hollow laser, so adjustment of the frequency of the terahertz waves is achieved. The device provided by the invention comprises a hollow laser generator and a terahertz radiation generation device. The terahertz radiation generation device comprises a base body which is internally provided with an energy storage cavity. A laser channel penetrating the base body is arranged on the base body of the two ends of the energy storage cavity. An electrode is arranged in the energy storage cavity and is connected with a direct current power supply or a pulse driving source.
