The method comprises the steps that automobile passing detection data of the main line green wave control direction are obtained through intelligent crossroad detection equipment installed at an intersection entrance lane; an automobile passing signal figure of main line intersections in the cooperative control direction is generated on the basis of original automobile passing detection data; actual automobile passing situations of a main line green wave band within the analysis time period are preliminarily analyzed according to characteristic analysis of the automobile passing signal figure and the license number matching situations; the main line green wave utilization rate is analyzed and assessed according to the automobile passing signal figure and the automobile passing situations in the designed green wave band. According to the method, the intelligent crossroad serves as a traffic data source, no traffic detection equipment needs to be additionally installed, the automobile passing signal figure of the main line intersections in the cooperative control direction is generated on the basis of the automobile passing records of the crossroad, automobile passing characters of the intersections are analyzed, the main line green wave utilization rate is analyzed on the basis of the automobile passing characters, and the application effect of green wave control is assessed.
