The sample collection device (1) is formed by a gas cylinder unit (3) and a pressure reduction safety unit (2) comprising a gas cylinder connection chamber and an equipment-housing chamber for housing safety equipment. The gas cylinder unit (3) detachably houses the gas cylinder (7) within a reclosable casing, except for an exposed part of the gas cylinder (7) including the exposed distal end, mouth, and gas cylinder shutoff valve (73) thereof. The exposed part of the gas cylinder (7) is formed so as to be able to be inserted into the gas cylinder connection chamber from an open surface of the gas cylinder connection chamber. The mouth of the gas cylinder (7) and the hydrogen outlet (42) of the supply pipe (4) of the equipment-housing chamber are connected by a flexible hose (8), and the hydrogen gas for sampling is collected in the gas cylinder (7).
