Abstract

The invention discloses a pencil beam intensity-modulated treatment head system and a realization method thereof. The system comprises a superconducting cyclotron, an energy selecting system, a beam spot adjusting device, deflecting dipolar iron and a treatment head. The superconducting cyclotron inputs a proton beam with fixed energy and adjusts flow strength of the proton beam. The energy selecting system performs adjustment on the proton beam with the fixed energy for obtaining energy and energy dispersion for treating a tumor, and furthermore realizes vertical range adjustment of the proton beam in the tumor. The proton beam arrives at the beam spot adjusting device and dimension of the cross section of the proton beam is adjusted. The proton beam arrives at the treatment head through the deflecting dipolar iron, and lateral extension is performed on the proton beam. According to the system and the method, the proton beam passes through the treatment head, thereby reducing secondary radiation caused by nuclear collision, improving utilization rate of the proton beam in a transmission process and realizing relatively large dimension of an irradiation field. Three-dimensional intensity-modulated treatment on the whole area of the tumor can be realized through a cooperatively controlled scanning magnet, an energy selecting system and the superconducting cyclotron.
