Abstract

The invention discloses a synthetic-single-sideband-signal-based linear direct detection method and system for optical signals. The system is composed of a local oscillator laser, a coupler, a photodetector, a radio frequency amplifier, an electrical filter, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a digital signal processor (DSP). The local oscillator laser is arranged at the edge of one side ofan incident optical signal spectrum; wave synthesis with an incident light signal is carried out by the coupler to form a single sideband signal that is inputted into the photodetector. An analog signal outputted by the photodetector is amplified and filtered; the ADC converts the processed signal into a digital signal; the DSP uses the input digital signal as the real part and Hilbert transformas ant imaginary part to carry out adding to obtain a complex signal representing the synthesized single sideband optical signal light field; and then an incident light signal light field is recoveredbased on a frequency offset compensation algorithm.
