Embodiment Construction

[0054] Specific embodiments of the present application are now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals indicate identical or functionally similar elements. The terms "distal" and "proximal" are used in the description below with respect to position or orientation relative to the treating clinician. "Distal" or "distally" is a location or in a direction away from the clinician. "Proximal" and "proximally" are a position near or in a direction towards the clinician.

[0055] As described below, some aspects of the present disclosure relate to delivery devices that utilize one or more tension members to compress and retain a stented prosthesis to the delivery device during transcatheter delivery to a target site. As background information, in Figure 1-3 The general components of one non-limiting example of a delivery device 10 for use with some aspects of the present disclosure are shown in . The delivery device 10 is arranged and configured ...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a transcatheter stented prosthesis delivery device comprising a handle assembly coupled to a shaft assembly on which a stented prosthesis is loaded and held in compression using a plurality of elongated tension members. The delivery device includes a cutting assembly that can sever the elongated tensile member after expansion of the stented prosthesis at the target site so that the delivery device can be withdrawn from the patient. Certain embodiments position the cutting assembly at least within the shaft assembly, while other embodiments position the cutting assembly above the shaft assembly. Various disclosed cutting assemblies are actuated by a handle assembly or the like that pulls the tension member over the blade and vice versa.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This non-provisional patent application claims the benefit of the filing date of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 534,043, filed July 18, 2017, the entire teachings of which are incorporated herein by reference. Background technique [0003] The present disclosure relates to transcatheter stented prosthesis delivery devices that utilize one or more elongated tension members to compressively retain a stented prosthesis to the delivery device. [0004] The human heart consists of four heart valves that determine the path of blood flow through the heart: the mitral, tricuspid, aortic, and pulmonary valves. The mitral and tricuspid valves are atrioventricular valves located between the atria and ventricles, while the aortic and pulmonary valves are semilunar valves located in the arteries leaving the heart. Ideally, the native leaflets of a heart valve move away from each other when the valve is in the open...
