The invention discloses a water footprint vulnerability evaluation method based on an input-output analysis technology, which comprises the steps of: obtaining the water consumption of a region, and determining the external water footprint of the region and the external scarce water footprint of the region; acquiring a water pressure index of the region, and determining the water resource direct vulnerability of the region according to the water consumption of the region and the external water footprint of the region; determining an indirect water pressure index of the region according to theexternal water footprint of the region and the external scarce water footprint of the region; according to the indirect water pressure index of the region, determining the water resource indirect vulnerability of the region; and determining the overall vulnerability of the region according to the water resource direct vulnerability of the region and the water resource indirect vulnerability of theregion. External water footprints and local water are jointly brought into a regional water resource network system and a management framework, and the vulnerability of the regional water footprintsis quantified, so that the method has guiding significance and popularization and use values for overall planning of regional internal and external water resource supply, reduction of internal and external risks of a water resource network and relief of regional water pressure.
