A communication method and a communication apparatus. The method is applicable to a first communication apparatus in a
sleep state, and comprises: a first communication apparatus receiving a first message and first indication information; and the first communication apparatus determining a
transmission policy for the first message on the basis of the first indication information, wherein the
transmission policy comprises: ignoring the first message, or sending the first message before a
timer indicated by the first indication information expires. A first communication apparatus in a
sleep state determines, on the basis of received first indication information, to ignore a first message or send the first message before a
timer indicated by the first indication information expires, such that the problem of the first communication apparatus in the
sleep state being awakened to send the first message upon receiving the first message is avoided, thereby ensuring that the first communication apparatus in the sleep state has a
long sleep duration, and thus reducing the network
power consumption.
